The North West Provincial Athletics Team have represented the province in the South African Schools Athletics held at Germiston Stadium in Gauteng Province on Friday, 21 to 22 March 2025
The national athletics championships started with a colourful Opening Ceremony. Different provinces were clad in different provincial colours.
The North West Provincial Team is represented by a strong contingent of 156 primary and secondary school learners from across all districts.
The girls and boys learners will be competing in track events (walk, sprint, hurdles) and field events (long and high jump, shot put, javelin and discus).
The MEC for Education, Viola Motsumi is optimistic that the North West Provincial Team will make the province proud.
"Let me take this opportunity to congratulate all the learners for reaching the national level and representing the North West Province. Also l wish them all the best as they will be competing with other provinces.
"I also want to thank our educators who are sacrificing their family time to train and prepare the learners for these championships. I am optimistic that this team will make us proud", expressed MEC Motsumi.
The athletics events began on Friday 21 March 2025.
