Tete Dijana of Nedbank Running Club stormed to victory in the 2025 Comrades Marathon down-run, crossing the finish line at 11:10:28 am. The Mahikeng-born athlete last won this title in 2023, cementing his place among the race’s greats.
Hot on his heels was fellow Nedbank runner and former winner Edward Mothibi, who eventually secured fourth place with a time of 11:16:41 am, showing his trademark endurance.
Another proud moment came from Onalenna Khonkhobe of Taung, who held the lead for a significant portion of the race before being overtaken by the pacy duo
Even though it looked like Khonkhobe, Mothibi and Dijana had strategically placed Khonkhobe as a pace setter, it later became evident that he suffered a hamstring issue and struggled here and there before Dijana and Mothibi passed him.
All three athletes represent the Nedbank Running Club and hail from Bokone Bophirima, showcasing the province's remarkable depth in distance running.
This province has dominated this annual race for some years now, continuing to produce elite long-distance runners who leave their mark on the Comrades Marathon.
