Witpoort, Rulaganyang - The Maquassi Hills Local Municipality has concluded a three-day water interruption around Maquassi Hills areas. The water interruption was led by Magalies Water, which is the service provider for the municipality. The maintainance work that led to the interruption was conducted at the Balkfontein Pump Station
The utility also said, residents sorcing water from the Leeudoringstad Pump Station have been affected
Areas that have been affected include, Rulaganyang, Lebaleng, and Tswelelang amongst others
The municipality and the water utility alerted the residents of the planned interruption days before the process could take ahead
"Magalies Waters hereby would like to inform residents of Maquassi Hills Local Municipality of the planned two-day water interruption starting from 22-24 July.
The interruption is due to the repair on the leaking pipe at the Leeudoringstad pump station as well as the continuing maintenance work done at the Balkfontein Supply Scheme. All areas receiving water from the Leeudoringstad pump station will be affected. Residents are hereby asked to use water sparingly" - Magalies Water
The cause of the interruption was fuelled by the leakage reported to Magalies Water by Maquassi Hills Municipality. The municipality has apologised for the inconvenience caused
"The municipality informed communities around Maquassi Hills Local Municipality and surrounding farms, communal(CPA's) receiving bulk water supply from the municipality of a scheduled maintenence of the pipeline as ascribed in the poster below from the service provide, we duly apologizes for the inconvinience these break down will costs to business, communities and the institutions around we promise to speedily restore supply" - Maquassi Hills Municipality
The municipality also called for calm during the water outages, pleading for corporation from the residents
"In the interest and spirit of revived, corporating and building resilient communities we call for calm during these break, we thank the people of our municipality for their continued pesistence even in the wake of alarm" - Maquassi Hills Municipality
