Bojanala led the "Close the HIV Treatment Gap Campaign" in Dinokana



In a remarkable show of community spirit, the NW Health Bojanala District participated in a monumental inter-district Tshela Ka Itekanelo/Close the 1.1 Million HIV treatment gap campaign held in Dinokana Village -Zeerust in the Ngaka Modiri Molema District, aiming to motivate individuals to get tested for HIV and return to HIV treatment. 

NW MEC for Health, Sello Lehari kick started the campaign by leading the impressive turnout of community members and employees in a 6 kilometres health walk followed by a vigorous aerobics workout. 

The day was further marked with a vibrant sports tournament as well as integrated health services delivery which united the community in both sports and health awareness.


As part of their commitment to leading by example, the Bojanala District netball team, champions of the previous leg of the inter-district tournament and the soccer team, rallied together to undergo HIV testing. 

"We want to show our community that getting tested is a vital step towards health," said a player from the netball team. "Our victory on the court is nothing compared to the victory of knowing our health status and taking control of our lives."

District Chief Director, Pule Monale, emphasized the importance of this initiative: "Our goal is to eliminate the stigma surrounding HIV testing. By engaging in community sports and promoting testing, we hope to inspire more individuals to take charge of their health."



Meanwhile, a player from the soccer team added, “As athletes, we are role models. By taking this test, we not only protect ourselves but also encourage our fans to follow suit. Together, we can foster a healthier community.”

The combined efforts of sports and health have ignited a powerful movement, encouraging everyone to embrace their health with pride and confidence.
