In this regard, heavy rains continue to batter parts of the North West, leaving a trail of flooded roads, stranded motorists and isolated communities
The North West Department of Community Safety and Transport Management said the situation is far more widespread, with major routes now impassable. The N14 between Vryburg and Kuruman remains closed due to flooding, while the N18 near Tigerkloof has also been shut following overnight rains. The road linking Schweizer-Reneke and Bloemhof is equally affected and remains closed
Residents and motorists urged to be cautious as heavy rains accompanied by strong winds and thunderstrikes is expected to continue in coming days
