The R504 leading to Wolmaransstad affected by recent heavy rainfall


Wolmaransstad - The latest heavy rainfall which was accompanied by strong winds has raised fears amonst the motorists who were travelling to Wolmaransstad 

The R504 between Wolmaransstad and Schweizer-Reneke has been affected following recent heavy rain

These weather conditions did not just startle motorists, but also community members in Maquassi Hills as the storm threatened to derail infrastructures such houses, electrical connections and roads

In this regard, heavy rains continue to batter parts of the North West, leaving a trail of flooded roads, stranded motorists and isolated communities

The North West Department of Community Safety and Transport Management said the situation is far more widespread, with major routes now impassable. The N14 between Vryburg and Kuruman remains closed due to flooding, while the N18 near Tigerkloof has also been shut following overnight rains. The road linking Schweizer-Reneke and Bloemhof is equally affected and remains closed

Residents and motorists urged to be cautious as heavy rains accompanied by strong winds and thunderstrikes is expected to continue in coming days
