North West Police Marathon team delivered impressive performanceat the N12 Ultra Marathon



The North West SAPS Marathon Team delivered an impressive performance during the N12 Ultra Marathon held in Potchefstroom on Saturday, 02 May 2026.

 The event attracted SAPS athletes from various provinces, including the Free State, Gauteng, Northern Cape, Mpumalanga and Head Office (HO).

The SAPS Marathon Team was well represented across different race categories, with outstanding performances particularly in the female division.

 Sergeant Seabela from Katlehong North SAPS in Gauteng secured third position overall in the 5km race and also claimed first position in the veteran category. 

Sergeant Kgaphola from Meadowlands SAPS also performed exceptionally well by obtaining second position in the same category.

The marathon served as a platform for SAPS athletes from different provinces to continue strengthening their presence in long-distance running events, which included the 5km, 10km, 21.1km and 50km races.

The North West Marathon Team fielded six athletes in the demanding 50km race, sixteen athletes in the 21.1km race and three athletes in the 10km race.

All participating members successfully completed their respective races and were awarded medals according to the distances they ran.

The participation of SAPS members in sporting activities not only promotes physical fitness and wellness within the organisation, but also inspires fellow members to strive for excellence both on and off the field.

Looking ahead, the North West SAPS Marathon Team continued showcasing their talent and determination during the Sanlam Marathon scheduled that took place in Cape Town on 23 and 24 May 2026.
