The Maquassi Hills has announced and confirmed solar and shopping complex projects for residents of Rulaganyang, Kgakala and Lebaleng
The Lion Thorn Solar Park community stakeholders meetings have been held at Rulaganyang and Kgakala recently
The main purpose of the meetings was to introduce the new solar contractors to communities followed by an intensive question and answer sessions
Lion Thorn Solar Park is working in partnership with Yellow Door Energy and Power China International. The solar project will run for a marathon 14 months with the minimum of 600 people from Wards 6,7 and 8 set to benefit workwise
According to the municipality, the two community engagement sessions drew a large number of people, highlighting the scourge of unemployment that continue to plaque Maquassi Hills in general
During the sessions, it was highlighted that the process of appointing the Community Liaison Officer (CLO) is still underway
Maquassi Hills Local Municipality Mayor, Mzwandile Feliti graced the occasions in the company of Ward 6 and 7 Councillors, Lebogang Medupe and Dilolo Rampai
Feliti said, the upcoming solar and shopping complex projects are expected to create job opportunities in the communities. Maquassi Hills is amongst municipalities which has a high unemployment rate between young persons at the age of 18 and 35

The movement said, high rate of unemployment in the municipality increases chances of continuous criminal activities
The solar and shopping complex projects are expected to be under construction very soon
