Solar and shopping complex projects due for residents of Maquassi Hills as council adopted its IDP



 Residents of Kgakala township at Ward 6 and 7 have welcomed the much-awaited solar and shopping complex projects will soon be constructed in the area

Maquassi Hills Mayor, Mzwandile Feliti has been embarking on a a series of public consultation processes on Integrated Development Plan (IDP) Review and Draft Budget for the 2026/27 financial year tabled before the Council 

Feliti has confirmed that the projects are expected under construction very soon, he says, these projects will assist in addressing unemployment in the municipality 



"Yes, the new solar project is on its way and an advert for the position of the Community Liaison Officer will soon be out. Let me also take this opportunity to inform you that the construction of a shopping complex is also underway and the two massive projects will help a lot in addressing the challenge of unemployment here" - Maquassi Hills Mayor, Mzwandile Feliti

The mayor further announced that a new settlement already named Uzalo by residents, is also on the cards



The Feliti also urged indigent families to register with the municipal Indigent Subsidy programme to qualify for free water, electricity and other offered benefits

The mayor said, they are in the process of phasing out water tankering system and will find another way of supplying the community with water to which the community advised that the money used to pay these trucks should actually be paid direct to Magalies Waters to lighten up the municipal water debt

Feliti further indicated that there's a budget for rehabilitation of Leboya street and that all Wards in Maquassi Hills would awarded two high mast lights each



Other concerns raised by residents included sewer spillages, high rate of unemployment, limited working hours for township clinic, stench from the dumping site, a need for another secondary school as well as other equally important matters

Pastor and accomplice appeared in court for alleged tender fraud after arrests in Wolmaransstad, Potchefstroom and Mahikeng

High Court interdicts Ramaphosa's impeachment inquiry for limited period

State will produce evidence to show Mapisa-Nqakula used code words to solicit bribes from SANDF contractor

The state in the case against the former National Assembly Speaker, Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula, said it will produce evidence to show that she used code words linked to her ancestral calling to solicit bribes. The former National Assembly Speaker is on trial in the Pretoria High Court on corruption charges.
