Vaal Central Warns Of Drinking Water Discoloration

BALKFONTEIN - Vaal Central & Magalies Water Boards have informed residents of Maquassi Hills of a possible excessive discolouration that will be experienced in the drinking water which is distributed from the Balkfontein Water Treatment Plant

Despite optimised adjustments made to the concentration of dosing chemicals, increased filter backwashing and disinfection, the appearance and taste of the water will still not be aesthetically acceptable

The water utility further mitigated that the effects of this phenomenon has been continuously be engaged with relevant stakeholders on alternative treatment options.
