Safer City Operation led to Tlhabane policing area


The South African Police Service in collaboration with various law enforcement agencies, conducted a Safer City Operation in the Tlhabane policing area on the  14th of February 2025. 

The operation aimed to enhance public safety through compliance inspections, crime prevention initiatives, and enforcement of relevant laws.

Key focus areas included compliance inspections at businesses in Zinniaville, enforcement of PSIRA regulations for security companies, and addressing illegal liquor outlets in the informal settlement.

 Immigration enforcement was carried out in Rustenburg Noord, Tlhabane, and Lefaragatlhe, alongside stop-and-search operations and vehicle checkpoints (VCPs)R104Molen Street.

The operation yielded significant successes, leading to multiple arrests and legal actions. A total of 4 liquor-related offenses were recorded, including 2 cases of dealing in liquor without a license and 3 cases of public drinking.

 5 individuals were arrested for drug possession, while 6 security service providers were found operating without proper registration, violating the PSIRA Act 56 of 2001. 

Furthermore, 5 individuals were found in contravention of the Immigration Act, and 3 cases of non-compliance with the Cosmetics, Foodstuffs, and Disinfectants Act were identified.

The acting Bojanala Platinum Sub-District Commisioner, Brigadier Mamotsamai Ntoagae issued a stern warning to those who disrespect the law and said the SAPS remains committed to ensuring public safety and enforcing the law through continuous operations. 

The Safer City Operation will persist in efforts to reduce crime and enhance compliance across the region.
