AfriForum vows to protect Afrikaans, farmers and other minorities

Lobby group, AfriForum, says that it will push for Afrikaners, farmers and other minority groups to protect themselves within the confines of the law.

This follows a Constitutional Court judgment, which dismissed its bid to appeal the rulings of the Supreme Court of Appeals and the Equality Court that the “Kill the Boer” song does not constitute hate speech.

AfriForum CEO Kallie Kriel has described the judgment as shocking.

“We are seeing a radicalisation in the interpretation of the constitution. We are seeing more and more ideologically driven judges, this together with the fact that the Presidency as well as the government refuses to condemn these slogans that call for the killing of Afrikaners means that we are (on our) own if we are not going to be protected.” - AfriForum CEO Kallie Kriel

Kriel continued to say, Afrikaners and farmers and minority communities must protect themselves with the framework of the law. We already have 177 neighbourhood and farm watches will expand that and make it stronger.
