Makwassie, Lebaleng - Atleast more than 100 players have participated in the Maquassi Hills Table Tennis at the district level
Kagiso Phutiagae was at Makwassie's township, Lebaleng with this sport . Phutiagae visited Atlarelang & Leruntse-Lesedi schools to introduce the sport
"We have visited Makwassie to introduce Table Tennis, the stuff and pupils welcomed us with both hands as we honored their invitations. Atlarelang and Leruntsi have passionate sports coordinators they need assistance and we are more than ready to offer our assistance. We are growing Maquassi Hills Table Tennis. We hope to see Lebaleng having a sports team in the location eradicating the use of drugs and ensuring confidence amongst the youth" - Phutiagae
Primary & Secondary Schools in Tswelelang participated in Klerksdorp and they included: Ragogang, Boineelo, Gontse & Bophepa Public-Primaries as well as Gatelapele, Reabona & Maitemogelo Secondaries
Head Coach for the team, Kagiso Sejamoholo Phutiagae said, winners at the district level were expected to head for thr national level in Cape Town
All tournaments have been supported by the ITTF
The team held trainings & an U14/19 tournament aiming at preparing for the district level
Phutiagae has been focusing on schools to participate in the sport
This sport is one of those that are rarely played in Maquassi Hills, now the Coach for the sport also aims to bring change and difference through this sport
"I have learnt that to be a Coach is more than what meets the eye. Coaching Table Tennis players and empowering coaches around Maquassi hills has been nothing but fulfilling to me. I wouldn't change this experience for anything in the world, the relationship i have with these players are incredible,especially young players" - Phutiagae
Schools that participated also had been able to experience first hand play on the sport
Phutiagae is now traveling in and around Maquassi Hills to get interested participants on board for the sport
