The Klerksdorp/ Tshepong Hospital complex Unveils yet another Highly Sought After Medical Equipment

Residents and patients of the North West Province will be happy to learn that more resources are being poured into improving hospital services. This follows another breakthrough at the Klerksdorp/ Tshepong Hospital complex in Matlosana where this renowned facility has once again proven to be the centre of excellence and the benchmark for specialised hospital services in the province.

The latest acquisition is the brand new brachy therapy unit . This piece of equipment costs a total of R15 million. It was commissioned at the hospital’s Oncology Unit.  This brachy therapy unit is state of the art and first of its kind in South Africa now installed in Klerksdorp hospital radiation Oncology unit .

While expounding on what this new new technology has to offer to the patients and the citizens of the province, the CEO, Mr Thulane Madonsela said that, “the advantage of this unit is that the entire treatment process of scanning , treatment planning and application of radiation treatment can be done in one room without moving around the patient for the different aspects of treatment. This unit can be used to give radiation treatment for Cancer prostrate, cervix and oesophagus”.

A huge difference in service offering is that the full cancer treatment for the citizens of North West Province is now available at
in Klerksdorp/Tshepong Hospital complex.

CEO Madonsela attributes this latest success to the collective team of the hospital and the support received at the provincial level. “I’m grateful to the executive engagement for the support led by the Superintendent General, the DDG for Hospitals and Clinical Support Services, the Acting CFO, the National Tertiary Services Grant (NTSG), the oncology team from the national Department of Health and most of all Prof Binu Luke and the entire Klerksdorp/ Tshepong Hospital team for making this dream successful.
