Still no arrests yet after equipment was touched in Makwassie



Makwassie - Police in Makwassie have not yet reported nor confirmed any arrests of suspects who burned down entertainment equipment  

The Police have previously reported that, they have not yet made arrests following the torching and damaging of equipment at the Kwas London Annual Fun Games and Music Festival in Makwassie on December, 27, 2024


The incident made national headlines through mainstream platforms after videos of attendees burning down multimillion rand equipment emerged and circulated on social media multiple times



According to police reports, patrons became angry when the artist Ndivhudzannyi Ralivhona also known as Makhadzi did not show up for the event


The organisers and Makhadzi’s management team apparently had some unresolved logistical issues

The North West Police spokesperson Adele Myburgh said, the stage and other equipment that touched worthed an estimated R3 million


On Friday, 27 December 2024, Ndivhudzannyi (Makhadzi) Ralivhona released a statement confirming that she was indeed scheduled to perform at the event

"Makhadzi Entertainment is pleased to announce that Makhadzi has been scheduled to perform at the Kwas London Annual Fun Games & Music Festival. On 14 November 2024 , a contract was provided to the promoter which specified that a 50% deposit must be received prior to any promotional activities on social media. The promoter reached out to us for an engagement & we agreed on a fee of R180 000, unfortunately the promoter did not reach the agreement by failing to pay the balance within 14 days period. Please note that we did not receive the balance within 14 Days period" - Makhadzi Entertainment

The police have also confirmed that investigations into the "28th December incident" are underway


“Investigations into the incident are underway and no arrest has been effected. Police request anyone who may have information that can assist in the investigation to contact the station commander of Makwassie, Captain Bereng Hlasa, on 082 575 8377 or the South African Police Service (SAPS) crime stop number: 08600 10111. Anonymous tip-offs can also be communicated via the Mysaps app from your smart phone.” - North West Police spokesperson Adele Myburgh
