Tswelelang - The Fighting Unemployment Movement held another meeting on Thursday, 22 May 2025 to engage the community on the unemployment crisis in Maquassi Hills sub-district
The movement has been calling on the North West Premier Lazarus Mokgosi and his collective to initiate job creation within the sub-district
The movement said, a huge amount of money is spent in the province every financial year but unemployment crisis of isn't tackled
"With the high level of unemployment in Maquassi Hills Municipality, we call on to Premier and MEC of finance in province to allow the initiative of creating more than 120 + jobs.

In the recently released unemployment statistics, the unemployment figure increased by one percentage point to 32.9% in the first quarter of this year and close to 300,000 jobs were lost between January and March in comparison to the fourth quarter of 2024
The movement said, crime increases because some of the residents are forced by circumstances to commit it
"More people of Maquassi Hills find themselves doing crime forced by a circumstances they are facing. Instead of more money being spend on prisoners the cause of the crisis should be solved, which is unemployment" - Fighting Unemployment Movement
The Fighting Unemployment Movement says, billions are being kept by the North West province which can create more than 120 jobs for residents of Maquassi Hills
"All we hear is billion of rands,. Milion of Rands we are even surprised that the province is keeping this huge amount of money. With this lot of money in the North West Province, Maquassi Hills residents are demanding for job creation in the area immediately" - Fighting Unemployment Movement
The Fighting Unemployment Movement, tabled great proposals for the initiative of employment in the area of need. Private sector and Premier of North West must attend the call with urgency, that's according to the movement
The movement has also said, the unemployment matter is getting of control and calls for solutions for the unemployment in Maquassi Hills
" Things are about to get out of hands, with the solutions of jobs available for people of Maquassi Hills, the need for this initiative to be attended will be of a prominent role" - Fighting Unemployment Movement
In the North West Provincial Treasury Budget Speech for 2025/26 Financial Year, the Provincial budget allocation has grown to R56.392 Billion
The movement suggests that this money can create over 120 jobs for communities of Maquassi Hills
"With all this amount of money allocated for North West province, jobs must be created in our area. Let's not this until it's too late, with this formal approach we belive 120+ jobs will be created for people of Maquassi Hills.
We are calling more people of Maquassi Hills to join the movement, the fight against unemployment require a collaborative effort. No political parties attire during the programs of the movement march and meetings" - Fighting Unemployment Movement
