The Fighting Unemployment Movement held a meeting in Tswelelang to engage the community on the unemployment crisis in Maquassi Hills sub-district
The movement is calling on the North West Premier Lazarus Mokgosi and his collective to initiate job creation within sub-district
The movement said, a huge amount of money is spent in the province every financial year but unemployment crisis of isn't tackled
"With the high level of unemployment in Maquassi Hills Municipality, we call on to Premier and MEC of finance in province to allow the initiative of creating more than 120 + jobs.

In the recently released unemployment statistics, the unemployment figure increased by one percentage point to 32.9% in the first quarter of this year and close to 300,000 jobs were lost between January and March in comparison to the fourth quarter of 2024
The movement said, crime increases because some of the residents are forced by circumstances to commit it
"More people of Maquassi Hills find themselves doing crime forced by a circumstances they are facing. Instead of more money being spend on prisoners the cause of the crisis should be solved, which is unemployment" - Fighting Unemployment Movement
The Fighting Unemployment Movement says, billions are being kept by the North West province which can create more than 120 jobs for residents of Maquassi Hills
"All we hear is billion of rands,. Milion of Rands we are even surprised that the province is keeping this huge amount of money. With this lot of money in the North West Province, Maquassi Hills residents are demanding for job creation in the area immediately" - Fighting Unemployment Movement
Maquassi Hills school principals and SGB members have attended the North West Basic Education Employment Initiative to engage stakeholders on the implementation of a project as it clarifies expectations, enhance confidence and productivity, fosters teamwork and supports successful implementation
It is with that in mind that the North West Basic Education Employment Initiative team conducted orientations of departmental officials, school principals and School Governing Body chairpersons and secretaries
The purpose of the orientation is to educate the personnel on the BEEI Framework.This includes principals and SGBs understanding their specific roles in the implementation of the BEEI
The attendees were also informed on the fact and audit queries that were found in Phase IV and how they should be corrected and avoided in Phase V. They were also being introduced to the new payment system, Kwantu Payment System, which is sub-contracted by Industrial Development Corporation (IDC)
The orientations were kicked off in Bojanala district, followed by Dr Ruth S Momopati district, then Dr Kenneth Kaunda district and concluded in Ngaka Modiri Molema district. During the orientations, the participants were trained on how to go about the recruitment process
The Maquassi Hills Municipality Council met with the Kgakala community in Leeudoringstad to engage about the 2025/2026 Budget & IDP
The Municipal Council that leads the consultative meetings said, the legislative framework provides for public consumption in matters of Local Government, moreover the MFMA on the process plan to adopt and finalize both the Budget & IDP of a municipality
The Municipal Council has adopted a schedule to consult communities on the same draft.
The Maquassi Hills Mayor, Mzwandile Feliti tabled the draft budget and IDP to the community of ward 06 in Kgakala, to primarily invite inputs and suggestions on the '25/26 Financial Year budget and communities responded by sponsoring their views on the budget and the IDP
The municipal entourage is expected to visit ward 07 in Kgakala on Thursday
More areas are expected to be visited to engage stakeholders about the 2025/26 draft budget and IDP
