The three men arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a 38-year-old Katlego Moribe in Seoding Block A, ealier in June 2025, have appeared before the Ganyesa Magistrate's Court on firearm-related charges.
National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Sive Gunya confirmed that Mafatshe Mogotlhong (28) and Tshiamo Goodman Moalahi (32) have been charged with:
Possession of firearms
Possession of a firearm without a licence, permit or authorisation
Possession of ammunition
Their case was postponed to 2 July 2025 for bail profiling and to allow accused number 2, Moalahi, time to secure a private legal representative. Mogotlhong is represented by Legal Aid.
The third accused, Sylvester Steenkamp (35), is charged with possession of firearms. His matter was also postponed to 2 July 2025 for bail profiling and for the appointment of a private attorney.
The trio is likely to face murder charges in Kuruman, Northern Cape, where the alleged killing occurred.
Their arrests followed a coordinated intelligence-led operation between the Northern Cape and North West police units, with the suspects being apprehended in Ganyesa on the 24th June 2025. Illegal firearms and ammunition were also seized during the operation.
