MEC responsible for the North West Department of Health, Sello Lehari, accompanied by Deputy Director General for Hospitals and Clinical Support, Polaki Mokatsane, acting Chief Director for Regional Hospitals, Nursing Colleges and Practise Portia Agisanang Tlou, and Professor John Tumbo, Head of Clinical Services in the DHS branch- have met all clinical managers and clinical leaders in the province, at Sun City Resort.
This important meeting, with the men and women referred to as the white robe army leaders, who are overseeing medical, clinical and operations of clinics, Community Healthcare Centres and Hospitals in the province, was used by MEC Lehari to receive first hand information about their services to communities across the province.
The 41 Clinical managers/leaders are members of the executive management of health facilities, responsible for clinical, and medical services.
Their span of control extends to District Health Services which consists of the following 407 facilities made of;
• 13 District hospitals
• 47 Community Health Centres
• 266 Primary Health Care clinics,
• 81 mobiles service units
These Clinical Managers /leaders also oversee and manage budgets with regard to medical services, ensure regulatory compliance, and implement Clinical Governance strategies to improve patient care and efficiency.
Addressing the meeting, MEC Sello Lehari encouraged these clinical scholars and managers to ensure that there’s a total regulatory compliance to address possible cases of litigations against the department.
“I want you to make patients’ interests as your priority, and I want you to lead your facilities with such grace, love for the people and ensure patients are treated with high care. And thank you for trying your best even during trying times. Let us go back to our respective facilities, and double our efforts.“
The meeting sought to also fostered a strong relations of all provincial clinical managers to form a strong block, and lead clinical services of the department to even more greater heights over and above the latest achievements.
