Wolmaransstad - Wolmaransstad taxi, cab drivers and community members have pledged war against criminal groups in the area
Various clash incidents between taxi, cab drivers have been reported on Thursday morning, 14 August 2025. Taxi and cab drivers have had enough of criminal groups terrorising community members in town and township
In a video posted on social media, members of the angry community are seen burning tyres while cars and trucks are turning away to avoid being caught in the cross fire in the Wolmaransstad town
Taxi and cab drivers vowed to resolve criminal activities done by these groups
These activities include mugging, stabbing, bodily harm and murder
These criminal groups have been terrorising the community in Tswelelang and the Wolmaransstad town
The Potchefstroom Public Order Police Unit has been roped in Wolmaransstad to monitor the situation which has turned deadly for some community members
The unit has been patrolling the Ext 10, 13 and 15 currently to continue monitoring the situation
At least one community member has been reported dead, according to our know, after being badly stabbed by some members of a criminal group in Tswelelang, Ext 10 following a clash
It is alleged that, he was ambushed at his house and was badly injured before being rushed to the Tswelelang Clinic 2
This community member has reportedly died upon arrival at the clinic. Some other members have allegedly been assaulted, stabbed and have been admitted to Nic Bodenstein Hospital, while some are receiving treatment in local clinics
These criminal groups are reportedly carrying harmful and deadly weapons. Residents in Tswelelang are reeling with shock following Thursday morning incidents
It is also said, members of these groups have also pledged a war against community members who are fighting against them
In another incident, one person has been burned in Ext 13, Tswelelang in the afternoon of Thursday, 14 August 2025. It is alleged that a petrol bomb was thrown at the person
This is as community members and concerned stakeholders are fighting against criminal groups terrorising community members
In the Imbizo that was held in March this year at the Tswelelang Youth Centre, community members who attended the meeting with the North West's top cops accused the Wolmaransstad police of working with these criminals and not doing anything to curb the widening web of criminality in Wolmaransstad and it's township - Tswelelang
Residents said, criminals do as they please. Criminal activities the police identified included house robberies, mugging, murder, deadly weapon possession in some instances, guns
Community members have since called for the resignation of the Wolmaransstad Police Station Commander
In this case, crime continues to spiral out of control. Motorists traveling at night are also highly urged to be cautious
