• A 20-year-old man who appeared in the Wolmaransstad Magistrates’ Court on the 28th of October 2024, for robbery aggravating may be linked to an extortion case involving a councillor & three other accused

• Its mixed reactions from members of opposition parties to the DA in Maquassi Hills after the party assumed Ward 5 which was placed under bi-election mode in earlier December 2024. These members believe that bi-election results were rigged

•'No arrests yet after equipment torched at Makwassie'. Police in Makwassie say they have not yet made arrests following the torching and damaging of equipment at the Annual Fun Games and Music Festival in Makwassie on December, 27, 2024

• The North West Secondary School For The Deaf based in Leeudoringstad has done well after underperforming for for couple of years consecutive. The deaf school obtained a 76,9% in the 2024 matric pass rate, an improvement of 10.9% increase from 2023 academic year

• "Most of the classrooms lack windows".  The Portfolio Committee on Education, Culture, Arts, Sports, and Recreation chaired by Priscilla Williams conducted an oversight visit at the Sentlhaga Primary School in Maquassi Hills

•  The North West Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs conducted an oversight visit to the Rulaganyang oxidation ponds project, which includes construction of a new pump station building for electrical panels, generator storage, cleaning and repairs to the existing bulk sewer system as well as the refurbishment of the Wolmaransstad waste water treatment plant 

• Incomplete  housing projects causes worries. The Department of Human Settlements led by the District Director in Dr. Kenneth Kaunda , Neo Mokoma stated that there were over 3 500 house constructions that where blocked due to various issues
