Life Peglerae Hospital unveils world-class ICU and emergency unit

Life Peglerae Hospital has reached a remarkable milestone with the completion of its brand-new 20-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and state-of-the-art Emergency Unit.

The grand opening took place on Thursday, 6 February 2025, marking a significant advancement in healthcare for the community.

The hospital embarked on this ambitious project in February 2024, investing a substantial R65 million to enhance its medical facilities.

Now fully equipped with cutting-edge technology, the new ICU and Emergency Unit stand as a beacon of medical excellence.

However, the public must continue using the Emergency Unit on Kock Street until further notice, as these new facilities are not yet open for public use.

Life Peglerae Hospital marketing and communications officer, Anneleen de Waal, expressed pride in the hospital’s evolution.

“We opened our doors in 1993 as the first private hospital with 63 beds, and today we have 284. This expansion is a testament to our commitment to providing world-class healthcare.”

Life Peglerae Hospital Emergency Unit theatre manager, Chantal Marais, echoed the excitement

“This is definitely an outstanding emergency unit. We have been waiting patiently for the new Emergency Unit and Intensive Care Unit, and now the time has arrived. We cannot wait to start assisting more patients in this bigger unit.”

With its commitment to innovation and patient care, Life Peglerae Hospital is poised to redefine healthcare in Rustenburg.
