In a thrilling display of grit and determination, SPU Rugby has punched their ticket to the 2025 Varsity Shield League, overcoming not only their rivals on the pitch but also off-field challenges that would make even the toughest Springbok proud.
This wasn't your average qualification story. After a decisive victory against Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) on August 12th, a bureaucratic bombshell threatened to derail their dreams.
An eligibility issue, later revealed to be an auditor error, forced a rematch. But did that stop our Gemmies? NO WAY! They dug deep, channeled the spirit of Kimberley, and delivered another DOMINANT performance, silencing any doubters with yet another stunning victory.
This is huge for SPU, for Kimberley, and for the growth of professional sports in the Northern Cape!
