Accelerated Service Delivery Programme lands in Lavine community

Lavine - Lavine community in Maquassi Hills has been recognised by the provincial government by rendering services they need. Lavin is yet another area within the municipality to be disadvantaged by social factors

The Ward 05 Councilor David Modisadife led the service delivery initiative under the Thuntsha Lerole Accelerated Service Delivery Program in Lavine

The initiative, undertaken in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture, saw the handover of essential gardening tools and seedlings to local residents, empowering them to embark on sustainable food production

The initiative, which took place few days ago, was marked by a strong sense of unity and purpose as Councilor Modisadife actively participated in the planting of trees alongside, Mimo Nobatana from the Office of the Premier, officials from the Maquassi Hills Local Municipality's Traffic and Fire, Departments of Agriculture and the community members

This symbolic gesture not only emphasized the importance of environmental conservation but also underscored the municipality’s commitment to food security and self-sufficiency among residents

The government's gesture highlighted the significance of such initiatives in enhancing local food production and fostering self-reliance within communities

“Thuntsha Lerole is about delivering tangible change and empowering our people. By equipping residents with the necessary tools and resources, we are paving the way for sustainable livelihoods and greener communities.

Local beneficiaries expressed their gratitude for the program, citing it as a crucial step towards alleviating food insecurity and promoting agricultural engagement. “This initiative gives us hope. With these seedlings and tools, we can now grow our own food and contribute to a cleaner environment,” - Lavine community member

The provincial government said, Thuntsha Lerole Accelerated Service Delivery Program remains a cornerstone of government efforts to fast-track service delivery and address pressing socio-economic challenges.

The success of the handover event in Lavine stood as a testament to the program’s impact in fostering community development and sustainable living

"With continued support from government and stakeholders, initiatives like these have the potential to transform communities, instilling a culture of self-sufficiency and environmental stewardship"

The Maquassi Hills Municipality, through proactive leadership and dedicated service delivery programs, continues to make meaningful strides in uplifting its residents
