On 31 May 2025, karate enthusiasts from across the region will descend upon the ATKV Buffelspoort Holiday Resort for the much-anticipated Magalies Monster Karate Challenge — a full day of disciplined competition, camaraderie, and martial arts mastery.
Hosted by Tokon Karate Academy and the Magliesberg Family Church, the event is open to all karateka who are friends — or want to be friends — of Tokon Shotokan Karate-do International Association (TSKKIA).
Competitors can enter three categories: Kata, Kumite, and Bo Kata for a flat fee of R300. The event promises not only thrilling bouts and precise performances, but also warm fellowship and family fun. Spectators are welcome, and there’s no gate fee — just bring your appetite and a cheering spirit!
Meanwhile, the MASA North West Provincials took place on 17–18 May 2025 at Ben Marais Hall in Rustenburg, bringing together athletes for a weekend of high-energy martial arts competition.
Disciplines include traditional forms, kata and kumite, grappling, MMA, continuous fighting, and points fighting. Entry fees are R350 for the first division, and R80 per extra division.
