AFM Tswelelang condemns violence and killings in the area


Tswelelang - The Tswelelang-based church, Apostolic Faith Mission - AFM  has condemned brutal killings and violence that took place in the area on Thursday, 14 August  2025 amid tensions between community members, taxi, cab drivers and criminal groups 

Dr Auchalie Mothupi, Senior Pastor at AFM Tswelelang says, the recent spate of violent confrontations and brutal killings that have engulfed the community of Tswelelang in the Maquassi Hills Local Municipality, it’s a demonic evil act. Mothupi says the church is saddened by this tragedy

"We unequivocally condemn these barbaric acts of violence, which have claimed innocent lives, terrorised families, and disrupted the peace and stability of the community. These perpetrators have no place in our community and we call upon SAPS to act decisively on these criminals, and they be brought to book" - Dr Auchalie Mothupi, Senior Pastor at AFM Tswelelang  




The local church has called for calm in the area and the police to resolve this matter urgently. The church has also vowed to work closely with involvedstakeholders to deal with current social ills in the society and bring law and order in the community 

"We call for calm and continue to pray for our community. We demand the South African Police Service (SAPS) to speedily resolve the matter of patrollers and the alledged gangs, which is the root cause of the conflict. As the church we remain committed to ensure we work together with all stakeholders, including local leadership, civic organisations and law enforcement - to deal with the social ills affecting our community and to restore order and safety in Tswelelang" - Dr Auchalie Mothupi, Senior Pastor at AFM Tswelelang 

The church has also extended heartfelt condolences to  families and friends of those who lost their lives during tensions 



"We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of those who have lost their lives and assure them that their pain is shared by the broader community. Psalm 122:6-7 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May those who love you be secure. May there be peace within your walls and security within your citadels. We pray for the peace of Tswelelang community in the name of Jesus Christ. May those who love Tswelelang be secure in Jesus Christ name Amen. I decree and declare peace and security with the area of Tswelelang in Jesus Christ name. I plead the blood of Jesus in every corner and street in Jesus Christ name Amen" - Dr Auchalie Mothupi, Senior Pastor at AFM Tswelelang

At this point, calm has been restored in the area and no arrests have been confirmed yet
