Kagiso Molefe & co-accused remanded back in custody for murder of David Monese

Kagiso Patricia Molefe (37) from Moruleng, along with Petrus Pontsho Mzisa (29) and Lucas Enock Mkhize (39), appeared in the Mogwase Magistrate’s Court yesterday in connection with the murder, kidnapping, and robbery of David Filmone Monese (59). The matter was remanded to 28 August 2025 for a bail application.

Monese’s decomposed body was found in an open field in Hebron Village, Bangladesh section, following his disappearance on 27 June 2025. He was last seen at work on that day.

Molefe was arrested on 17 July 2025 in a police operation that also led to the arrest of Mzisa in Hammanskraal. This followed the earlier arrest of Mkhize on 7 July 2025 along the N18 near Ramatlabama.

Investigations revealed that Mkhize led police to stolen items, including cellphones and clothing, before directing them to where Monese’s body was dumped.

The arrests have sparked mixed reactions in the community, with some residents alleging that the trio may be linked to several past robbery incidents in Moruleng and surrounding areas, citing similarities in the modus operandi.

For 23 days now since Molefe has been held in custody, Moruleng community waits anxiously for justice in this shocking case. With the next court date fast approaching, the call for answers and closure is growing louder by the day.
