Wolmaransstad - One elderly person has died an accident near the municipal premises in Wolmaransstad town on Friday morning (20 February 2026)
According to an eyewitness, the elderly person who was driving his silver Mercedes Benz sedan collided with a scholar transport after losing control
The silver Mercedes Benz sedan reported dead at scene. The eyewitness told Wolmaransstad Link that after the head-on collision, the sedan driver called for help after the airbag suffocated him for couple of minutes
"I wanted to go and assist after I heard the driver screaming from inside his vehicle requesting assistance but I was denied access by people who were at the accident scene. They told me not to touch the car as it is an active accident scene" - Eyewitness
The eyewitness said, some of the belongings of the deceased were stolen immediately after the collision by thugs. Belongings that included a cellphone of the deceased
"The guys who stole the belongings of the deceased are heartless. Immediately after the accident, some thugs rushed to the car and stole some belongings" - Eyewitness
According this eyewitness, the vehicle swerved to the opposite driving side of the road where a scholar transport was heading towards the intersection of the Wolmaransstad Magistrates Court and the Post Office. Traffic was divided to different routes during the active scene as the road near the municipal premises was closed
According to reports, a scholar transport which is a minibus taxi was not speeding during the collision. The driver of the minibus and his passager escaped the scene unharmed
It has also been reported that, the silver sedan driver was not in good condition and drank his medication which made him feel dizzy while driving
The airbag that suffocated the sedan driver has been identified as the cause of his death. The accident scene lasted for more than 4 hours with the body of the driver inside his silver sedan as emergency services were awaiting forensic pathologies. An investigation into the scene has been launched
