Primary School Learners caught with suspected dagga and "chufu" during random search in Schweizer-Reneke
Learners at Tshwaraganelo Primary School in Ipelegeng, near Schweizer-Reneke, were reportedly found in possession of substances and items suspected to be linked to dagga and "chufu" during a random search at the school on Monday, 17 August 2026.
According to the school, the search was conducted amid concerns over what it described as an increase in disturbing behaviour among some Grade 7 boys. The school said some learners had also admitted to smoking dagga.
The school further reported that some learners were caught off guard by the search and allegedly attempted to hide certain items before their school bags were searched. Among the other items reportedly found were knives.
The school linked some of the concerning behaviour to the alleged use of substances, including dagga and chufu.
However, details surrounding the incident remain unclear. It has not yet been confirmed what action will be taken against the learners, or whether their parents or guardians and relevant authorities have been formally notified.
