Rustenburg Local Municipality warns traders that permits do not authorize illegal trafing

The issuing of municipal trading licences and permits is intended to ensure that businesses operate lawfully, safely and in compliance with municipal regulations.

The Rustenburg Local municipality has warned traders that a permit is not a licence to sell illegal goods, contravene municipal by-laws or operate outside the conditions attached to their approval.

All traders are urged to comply with applicable health regulations, trading conditions and other relevant laws governing their businesses.

The municipality says it will continue working with relevant stakeholders to support businesses that operate within the law, while taking firm action against illegal trading activities.

Traders are therefore encouraged to familiarise themselves with the conditions of their permits and ensure that their operations remain fully compliant.

Newborn baby found alive at a dumping site in Wolmaransstad in a plastic bag

The South African Police Service and emergency services responded on Saturday morning (16 August 2026) to a report of a newborn baby found at a dumping site put inside a black plastic bag in Wolmaransstad According to initial reports, a member of the public discovered the baby boy at the site earlier on Saturday. Emergency medical personnel were immediately called to the scene The infant was found to be alive and was stabilized on site before being transported to a nearby hospital for further medical checkups and care.
