COGTA North West and disaster management teams on high alert as weather systems changes




The North West Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA), through the Provincial Disaster Management Centre (PDMC), on high alert as weather systems keeps on changing across several parts of the country 

This warning is in response to a signal from South African Weather Services (SAWS) regarding changing weather over potions of North West leading to destruction and damage of buildings and structures 

The North West PDMC is therefore maintaining a heightened state of readiness and is coordinating with district and local municipalities, emergency services and other relevant stakeholders to ensure that appropriate response measures are in place should weather-related incidents occur across the province.

Head of the Provincial Disaster Management Centre, Mr Tebogo Gaolaolwe urges communities, motorists, farmers and all residents of the North West to remain vigilant and closely monitor official weather updates as the system develops.
