Witpoort, Rulaganyang - Concerned youth of Leeudoringstad & Witpoort have decried the Maquassi Hills Local Municipality's position towards them, saying, they have been disadvantaged by their own municipality. They say, every opportunity that comes through the municipality has to be applied for which proves the process of these applications as difficult. The communities of these areas felt left behind as each and every programmme is held in Wolmaransstad & Tswelelang
" As people from Leeudoringstad and Witpoort we are very disadvantaged by our own municipality ,because it's now clear, everything that comes out from Maquassi Hills and DR KK District Municipalities must be applied or be fetched at Tswelelang Youth Center always" - concerned youth
The youth voiced their frustrations over continuous neglect by their own municipality
"1. UNISA's outreach programme was held at Tswelelang Youth Center or Library. 2.Municipal fundings before handing over to auditor general submission, venue was Tswelelang Youth Center. 3. CEDA's outreach programmes are always at Tswelelang Youth Center. To apply for the DR Kenneth Kaunda District's EPWP, CVs must always be submitted at Tswelelang Youth Center. 5. Department of Labour and SARS' outreach programmes are always at Tswelelang Youth Center in Wolmaranstad always, what about the people from Rulaganyang who are mostly unemployed within the municipality, they are expected to travel while they don't have nothing on their pockets to get where the opportunities are while Kgakala people are also very far whereby it takes an Individual to have R150 to get to the municipal opportunities or services" - concerned youth
The concerned community members (youth) in Leeudoringstad & Witpoort says, everything revolves in Wolmaransstad & Tswelelang. They are calling for recognition and to allow municipal offices to head back to Leeudoringstad to join the district office in the area
"Everything revolves within Wolmaranstad since Leeudoringstad municipal offices moved to Wolmaranstad. It's now a must that our municipal offices to come back to join the district office in Leeudoringstad and other surrounding areas like Ottosdal and nearby farms .We need to wake up, this is an injustice to poor communities" - concerned youth
Concerned Leeudoringstad & Witpoort community members (youth) have threatened to part ways with Maquassi Hills Local Municipality. The community members (youth) have suggested that a petition be signed to address what they say, is an injustice to them
"People of Leeudoringstad and Witpoort it is now a time that we divorce Maquassi Hills Local Municipality and form our own towards 2026/2027 local elections"
