Five killed in N18 head-on collision near Magogong



Police in Hartswater is investigating a case of culpable homicide following a tragic head-on collision between two vehicles on the N18 road between Taung and Magogong.

According to Sergeant Molefi Shemane, the accident occurred around 12:39 PM on Thursday, 10 July 2025, involving two Silver Ford Double Cab Rangers.

“Preliminary reports indicate that five people tragically lost their lives at the scene,” said Shemane. “Four of the deceased were travelling in one of the vehicles — a 63-year-old man, a 56-year-old woman, and two female passengers aged 8 and 16. In the second vehicle, a 22-year-old man also died at the scene.”

Paramedics declared all five deceased at the scene.

Police are continuing their investigation to determine the cause of the collision. Authorities have urged members of the public who may have witnessed the crash or have any relevant information to contact Hartswater SAPS at 053 474 2087 / 2155 or use the SAPS Crime Stop line at 08600 10111, or report anonymously via the MySAPS App.

“All information will be treated with the utmost confidentiality,” Sergeant Shemane assured.
