The African National Congress (ANC) in the Dr Kenneth Kaunda Region has expelled five councillors in the Maquassi Hills local municipality
The group, which includes Mayor Mzwandile Feliti, was found guilty of defying the party’s mandate and conniving with opposition parties to execute their responsibilities at the municipality
The ANC Deputy Regional Chairperson in the Dr Kenneth Kaunda Municipality, Zanele Mphafudi, confirmed that the councillors face six charges preferred against them
“All of the charges relate mainly to issues of defiance and conniving with the opposition. They were subjected in the process, they were represented and a disciplinary hearing was concluded, which found them guilty. Now, we as the ANC have decided that they will be expelled for a period of two years.”
Following the conclusion of the ANC's internal disciplinary processes, five ANC councillors serving in the Maquassi Hills Local Municipality were found guilty of misconduct. The disciplinary committee resolved that all five members be expelled from the African National Congress for a period of two years
The ANC reiterated its commitment to organisational discipline, accountability, and adherence to the Constitution and policies of the movement
