The arrest of two men in Bapong for alleged stock theft has once again highlighted growing concerns over livestock-related crimes in the area.
The accused were reportedly found in possession of stolen meat and have since appeared in court.
The matter was postponed to 07July for Bail application.
Speaking in response to the case, Mabeskraal Community Policing Forum Chairperson Frank Mudau said the continued rise in stock theft incidents remains a serious concern for communities and livestock owners.
He stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation between residents, farmers, and law enforcement agencies to curb the crime.
Mudau said community involvement and timely reporting of suspicious activities are critical in assisting police efforts to combat stock theft, which continues to negatively affect livelihoods and local economies.
