COGTA Minister made a follow up visit to Ditsobotla Local Municipality to assess developments

Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Velenkosini Hlabisa, who was accompanied by MEC for CoGHSTA, Gaoage Oageng Molapisi, led a follow-up visit to Ditsobotla Local Municipality to assess developments in the municipality and efforts to restore effective governance and service delivery provision following the Section 139 (7) intervention, which is concluding 12 months.

In his visit, the Minister engaged the council and labour unions, representatives.

The session provided stakeholders with an update on the Section 139(7) intervention and current developments within the municipality. The session also created an opportunity for stakeholders to raise concerns, share their perspectives, and contribute towards an agreed way forward to rebuild the municipality.

Minister Hlabisa described the meeting as fruitful, as the engagements were directed towards advancing service delivery for the benefit of Ditsobotla communities.

The attitude displayed by everyone here is commendable.

He promised to come back after the local government elections to ensure that the new council does not drop the ball on progress registered by the current council.
