Botshabelo residents says illegal foreign nationals still operating in their area

Residents of Botshabelo in Bloemfontein say they have lost all trust in government officials as shops owned by undocumented foreign nationals continue to operate.

Residents in Bloemfotein held a meeting in which a response from the Department of Home Affairs was discussed.

Residents say they are ready to close down spaza shops and hair salons owned by undocumented foreign nationals.

This, despite some leaders of the march held on the 30th of June as part of the nationwide call to remove all undocumented foreign nationals, making a plea for residents to await a response from the Premier’s office.

Community leader Tankiso Thoabala says government still has seven days to respond.

“We are merely calling for high moral high discipline. We need to give this process time before we can talk about the next step. We need to get these people out first and see what we are left with so that we can plan properly. We mustn’t mix a lot of things in one, so we need space to take these people out first.”
