"We're minding our own business" - Maquassi Hills residents felt no interest in joining June 30 protests against illegal immigrants


Tuesday, the 30th of June was a peaceful day for residents of Maquassi Hills who decided not to be part of protests against removing foreign nationals in Wolmaransstad

Some foreign owned shops were opened for business while others closed as a precaution in Maquassi Hills

Foreign owned stores operated as usual in Maquassi Hills despite calls to march against illegal immigrants in Wolmaransstad and Tswelelang

 


Residents have been requested by other residents not to participate in the exercise to vacate foreign nationals by the 30th of June 2026

The organised March and March meetings in Wolmaransstad on Thursday, the 25th June, and Sunday, the 28th June 2026 were not honoured by many residents ahead of planned mass demonstrations on Tuesday, the 30th June 2026




No incidents that have been reported in Wolmaransstad on Tuesday, the 30th June 2026 despite the North West Police highlighted the area among other areas as a hotspot

Some residents says, they do not have issues with migrants or foreign nationals who are based in Wolmaransstad and Tswelelang

Residents are still devided on the issue of foreign nationals who reside in Wolmaransstad and Tswelelang


"We're minding our own business, we don't want to involve ourselves on matters that don't concern us" - Kebarileng Chokolo

"It's said to hear that our people are crying over buying with credit from foreign nationals, it's so sad" - Moeketsi Sehemo

These residents are still butting heads as some want illegal foreigners to vacate Wolmaransstad and Tswelelang  while others do not support the idea to vacate foreign nationals

What is the reason to close those tuck shops, this is only stupidy" - Sephiri Pholo

" They must go because they  don't vote in South Africa, I think we must apply in court for this illegal foreigners" - Hans Mokgethi

Foreign owned stores continue to operate normally and no disturbance has occured
