Rose Unathi Sishawu, a 27-year-old powerhouse from Rustenburg, has been crowned Miss Phenomenal South Africa 2025, a title she carries with grace, purpose, and a deep sense of service. Rose grew up with a dream — to be a voice for the voiceless.
That dream has become a reality. After months of challenges, dedication and heart, Rose stood tall on the Encore Theatre stage in Pretoria on 29 March 2025, representing the North West Province — and walked away with the national crown.
This remarkable young woman has already made a mark in the local pageantry world, previously holding titles such as Miss Face of Rustenburg 2020/21, Miss Rustenburg and Miss Unity. But Rose isn’t just about the glitz.
Her platform, #RestoringDignityWithUnathi, has brought real change — from mental health awareness campaigns at local clinics to hosting “free shopping days” where community members can collect preloved clothes with dignity and joy.
Professionally, Rose works in the salary department at the North West Department of Education. Personally, she carries the weight of her community’s struggles — high crime, teenage pregnancy, and substance abuse — but transforms that burden into fuel for her passion.
“I wanted to show every child that their community’s status does not define them,” she said. “Their dreams and aspirations know no boundaries.”
Rooted in her faith, Rose adds, “I believe in God so much that whenever I feel troubled, I pause, pray, take a break, rest, then remember why I started this in the first place — not only to leave a mark, but to be part of the phenomenal women contributing towards making South Africa a better space for women and children.”
Her journey has not been easy. “It’s very challenging, very demanding,” she admitted. “But when you love something, no matter how difficult it is, you always make room for it. Modelling is my passion.” Rose is currently serving her term as Miss Phenomenal South Africa and dreams of one day competing in Miss South Africa. She hopes to collaborate with local organisations to uplift Rustenburg and South Africa at large.
“I am forever grateful to every individual who took their last cents and voted for me,” she said, humbled by the overwhelming support from her family, friends, and community.
She believes that “Every person’s dreams are valid. They are planted in your heart for a purpose. Go out there, create space, and cement yourself. Don’t let external authority limit you from reaching your dreams.”
